Research Associate

Angad Yadav is currently working as a Project Associate in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Madras, where he contributes to experimental setups and hydrodynamic simulations for advanced research projects. His role involves integrating practical experimentation with computational methods to enhance the understanding and control of fluid behaviour in microdroplet and nanoscale material formation systems.
Angad is also pursuing his M. Tech in Design Engineering from BITS Pilani (2023–2025) under the Work-Integrated Learning Program, blending academic advancement with hands-on industrial research.
Previously, he worked at Aditya Birla Science & Technology Company (ABSTC), Navi Mumbai, as a Research Associate in the Metals & Mining division, contributing to multiple R&D initiatives for Hindalco Industries Ltd. His work focused on pilot-scale trials, process optimization, and new material development across aluminium, copper, and alumina sectors as well as in battery. Notable contributions include:
• Development of conductive carbon coatings for lithium-ion batteries.
• Casting and testing of Aluminium-Air battery anodes.
• Recovery of valuable metals via electrochemical extraction (e.g., Nickel, Tin).
• Wire break analysis and recycling of copper from power systems.
• Pilot-scale production of high-purity and nano gamma alumina, and green carbon anodes for smelters.
• Also responsible for various instruments operations, like metal cutting machine, UTM testing machine, Hardness Testing, Optical microscopic, Furnace and Oven, automatic film applicator, Viscometer, high speed dispersion, three roll mill.
Earlier in his career, Angad served as a Technical Service Engineer at Instruments Research Associates Pvt. Ltd., where he managed technical servicing and maintenance for major clients in the petroleum sector including IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, and Shell.
Angad’s academic foundation is in Mechanical Engineering (B.E.) from Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. His bachelor’s project focused on the design and fabrication of a solar-powered, mobile-operated multifunctional agricultural machine.
He is interested about fluid dynamics, materials research, and sustainable energy technologies, and continues to build expertise in simulation-driven design and experimental validation. Outside work, he enjoys traveling, Ethnographic Curiosity and great joy in talking to strangers.
