Prof. Pradeep is a researcher who has dedicated his life to a mission of ensuring clean water for society. He is a pioneer in utilising nanotechnology for water purification. He has been honoured with several awards and very recently he received the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz water award.
On 5 June 2022, the Prize Council, under the chairmanship of the president of King Saud University Dr. Badran Al-Omar, and under the direction of PSIPW President HRH Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, approved the winners for the 10th Award (2022)
Excerpts: “Interaction of nanotechnology with biology has produced some exciting result and can be used to create new materials .The bio-nano interface could help solve problems of water, food, health and environment ”
Excerpts: “The author provides an elegant introduction in the first part with beautiful photographs of the celebrated gold nanoparticles prepared by Faraday and also the Lycurgus cup made in the 4th century AD...”
Excerpts: “One can start arranging molecules to achieve the functions of a complex machine. A future with controlled molecular assemblies of this kind, the molecular nanotechnology, will revolutionize everything - from food to thought will change with this newly acquired power...”
Excerpts: “Every molecular assembly in nature is by this atom-by-atom approach. From amoeba to elephant is made this way. These synthetic routes are the most energy efficient, green and sustainable...”
Excerpts: “Chemistry at the surfaces has been central to industrial revolution, modern agriculture, etc. Now it is being recognized also in the context of environmental protection, atmospheric processes and so on...”
Excerpts: “We shouldn’t worry just about products and devices - nanotechnology is a new type of science, which will dissolve barriers between physics and chemistry and biology and bring in engineering...”
